I’m a bit of a skincare nut. Growing up with combination skin was tough, but it taught me a lot about my skin type and specific skincare ingredients that do and don’t work for me. Having problematic skin also made me very skeptical of gimmicks. So many skincare providers promise the world, but instead pack their products with needless and harmful additives.
Meteorite: The Key Ingredient
When I first received the Cosmic Firming Collection from Celestolite, I had a few concerns. According to their website, Celestolite is a ’21st century skin care line which features powdered meteorite from authentic celestial bodies to produce heavenly results.’ I have to admit, a few red flags went up right away. Meteorites in skincare? Where did they get them and what are the actual benefits of meteorites in a cream or serum? Is this just a futuristic gimmick intended on roping in curious, aging millennials?
I decided to do some digging on the benefits of meteorites (pun totally intended.) Surprisingly enough, after doing a bit of research, I discovered that meteorites are packed with minerals like calcium, iron, and magnesium. While the minerals themselves aren’t unconventional to include in anti-aging skincare, pulling them from fragments of space rocks is certainly a new-age method!
After doing a few patch tests to make sure nothing from outer space would give me a negative reaction, I decided to dig in and get to testing. There are a few qualities I always look out for when purchasing skincare. Is the brand I’m purchasing from cruelty-free? Does the brand avoid unnecessary additives like heavy fragrance and cheap chemicals like parabens? Luckily, Celestolite passed the test!
My Skin
I’ll start this in-depth review with a little overview of my skin. I’m in my early 30s, but I spent way too much time in the sun without sunscreen as a kid, and it shows. I have a few deep lines around my eyes, particularly when I smile. My t-zone is oily and clogs rather easily. The rest of my face is typically quite dry.
Anti-aging skincare treatments can be a bit tricky for me. I still break out from time to time, and many anti-aging creams and serums have exacerbated that issue in the past. I’m thrilled to say, none of the items in Celestolite’s Cosmic Collection gave me any trouble throughout the testing process.
Celestolite Cosmic Firming Collection
I received the following items from Celestolite: Cosmic Neck Firming Cream, Cosmic Firming Cream, Cosmic Firming Serum, Cosmic Firming Mask, and the Cosmic Wrinkle Plumper. I’ll break down how I used each product, what I thought of them, and any other little details I think you might need to know!
Each morning, I’d start the day with my typical facewash. I tend to use very basic cleanser that doesn’t strip the natural oils from my skin. Next, I followed up with the Cosmic Firming Serum. A little bit goes a long way with this product. After gently massaging the serum into my skin and allowing it to dry, I applied the Cosmic Firming Cream to my face and the Cosmic Neck Firming Cream to my neck and décolletage.
Typically, I don’t start the day by applying that many products. I wash my face and follow up with a hydrating serum and/or a moisturizer. This routine took a little bit of extra time, but the process felt so luxurious!
Now for a few details about the products I used each morning. The Cosmic Firming Serum absorbed easily into the skin and didn’t cause other products to pill up as I layered them. My face felt instantly plumper, balanced, and hydrated.
This serum includes proven anti-aging ingredients like ascorbic acid (vitamin C), meteorite powder, and sodium hyaluronate. Combined, these ingredients bind moisture to the skin and soften the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Compared to other serums on the market, you get a little over 1 fluid ounce, which is on par with other brands. As I said, a little goes a long way, so I suspect it’ll be a while before I run out of this stuff.
Next up was the Cosmic Firming Cream and the Cosmic Neck Firming Cream.
In the skincare community, there are often debates about whether two separate creams should be used for the face and neck. Personally, I reach for face creams intended for sensitive skin types. For that reason, I often feel like the anti-aging ingredients used on my neck aren’t quite potent enough.
The neck is an oft-forgotten part of any person’s skincare routine, but it’s one of the first body parts to show significant signs of aging. In my opinion, if having an entirely separate cream helps you remember to treat the neck area, go for it!
The Cosmic Firming Cream has a very light, pleasant scent that smells fresh and is in no way overpowering. I tend to avoid face creams with fragrance; however, this one didn’t cause any irritation. The gentle, yet effective, anti-aging properties include caffeine, DMAE, and vitamin C. Together, these ingredients instantly perk up the skin and give you a fresh, glowing complexion.
I applied the Cosmic Neck Firming Cream on my chest and neck in upward motions, as instructed by the Celestolite website. I really enjoyed the texture of this anti-aging cream. It never felt too heavy or slimy and absorbed pretty quickly into my skin. Much like the face serum and cream, this firming treatment softened the appearance of the lines that crisscross around my neck. It’s full of hydrating ingredients that my skin loves like sweet almond oil, shea butter, calming green tea extract, and jojoba seed oil. Of course, it’s also packed with helpful anti-aging ingredients like collagen amino acids, hyaluronic acid, vitamin A, and (you guessed it) meteorite powder.
If I had any hesitation about this brand before, my worries instantly faded after applying these three products first thing in the morning. I looked radiant and awake, which is a far cry from how I usually look after rolling out of bed. I had no issues layering my medium coverage foundation over the skincare, which was a relief. Oftentimes, anti-aging creams can be quite thick and cause foundation or powder to break up or look uneven. That wasn’t the case with these products.
Fast forward to my evening skincare routine. I decided to try out the Cosmic Firming Mask in addition to the products I used first thing in the morning.
After gently removing the day’s makeup and drying my face, I applied an even layer of product onto my face and neck. This mask comes with a small applicator, which keeps your product sanitary for future use (bye-bye bacteria!). Celestolite recommends adding a thick layer of this face mask and leaving it on for 15 minutes at most.
Not only did this mask feel great, it smelled divine. Just like the face and neck cream, there’s a very light and invigorating fragrance. Several anti-aging masks I’ve used in the past have an overpowering floral smell that reminds me of my grandmother. No offense grandma, but I’m trying to hold onto my youth by using these products!
After my 15 minutes were up, I gently rinsed the mask away with warm water and a clean wash cloth. I allowed my skin to dry for a few minutes before applying any additional products. I wanted to see if the dry areas of my skin would become parched or irritated. I’m pleased to say this mask made my skin feel silky smooth and deeply hydrated.
So what is it that makes this firming mask tick? The combination of DMAE, vitamin A, and collagen help to improve elasticity while honey, aloe, and our trusty meteorite powder keep the skin calm and hydrated. Celestolite recommends using this mask once per week for optimum results.
Once I finished inspecting my glowy and plump skin, I followed up with the Cosmic Firming Serum, Firming Cream, and Neck Firming Cream. Again, it took a bit more time to get ready for bed, but the process was totally worth it.
On my second day of testing the Celestolite Cosmic line, I have to admit I was a little bit nervous to look in the mirror. I’m aiming for youthful skin, but I don’t miss the breakouts from my teenage years! I took a deep sigh of relief once I looked in the mirror. My skin was clear of breakouts and actually looked really refreshed and even. The same old fine lines around my mouth and eyes were still there, but softened. This is a topical treatment after all, not a miracle injectable.
I repeated the same steps in the morning and didn’t worry a bit about facing the harsh winter weather outside. In the evening, after washing my makeup off, I decided to introduce the Cosmic Wrinkle Plumper into my routine.
Just like the Cosmic Firming Mask, Celestolite recommends using this product only once per week. The packaging for this product is really fun. It looks like a big fat syringe, clearly a play on the potential filler-like results it will provide.
I carefully applied several small dots of product onto my trouble areas and gently smoothed the product out. Celestolite’s website recommends wiping away excess product with a tissue, but for these prices, I’m not wasting a single drop!
After I allowed the product to dry under my eyes and around my mouth, I almost couldn’t believe my eyes. As I mentioned before, the skin under my eyes is quite thin and creases easily. My deeper lines looked far smoother and my skin looked brighter and plumper after just a minute or two! I followed up with my serum and moisturizers and happily went to bed.
The next morning, my husband commented on how nice my skin looked. Coming from a guy who washes his face (maybe) twice per week, the fact that he noticed my skin was a pretty high compliment. I’ll admit the skin under my eyes didn’t look quite as smooth and youthful as they did the night before, but overall, my skin still looked and felt wonderful.
I did end up cheating on my skincare regimen mid-week, because I had to see how the Cosmic Wrinkle Plumper would wear under a full face of makeup. I switched to a very lightweight concealer and didn’t have any issues layering product whatsoever. My makeup didn’t settle into my fine lines or look cakey or dry. It was a fantastic makeup day.
So what’s in this little bottled miracle and how does it work so fast? Plumping sodium hyaluronate instantly hydrates the skin and diminishes the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles while peptides do the long-term work of building a protective barrier on the skin. I didn’t experience any negative side effects after applying the Wrinkle Plumper several times in one week, and I’d probably do it again!
Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed using the Cosmic skincare line and I will definitely continue to use it. Beside the high price point, I’d say my only complaint is with the packaging of the Cosmic Firming Cream and Cosmic Neck Firming Cream. I prefer products to come with a pump, especially if they include unstable ingredients like vitamin A. Exposure to light and air can cause some active ingredients to become less potent over time, so you’ll need to make sure to keep these items tightly sealed when not in use.
Additionally, the products I used do not have SPF in them. Some would see this as an issue, considering the goal is anti-aging, however, my skin is quite sensitive to SPF and I prefer to apply that separately.
At my age, my skincare regimen is all about preventive care and maintenance. When it comes to topical creams, there are no miracle products that can perfectly emulate an invasive treatment, but this luxurious line truly does make a difference!
The Celestolite Cosmic skincare line is packed full of ingredients that will keep your skin looking fresh, hydrated, youthful, and vibrant. More importantly, these treatments keep working long after you’ve applied them. It’s never too early to start taking seriously good care of your skin. The products within Celestolite’s Cosmic line are the exact tools you’ll need to get the job done.
